COLD BEVERAGES

Frosted Tea

1 cup mediumstrong tea (any Health/herbal tea), 1/2 cup lemon juice,
1 cup orange juice, 1 cup raw sugar, 2 pints ginger ale

Steep tea, and strain over sugar. Add lemon and orange juice. Place in refrigerator to chill. When ready to serve, add ginger ale. Pour into glasses and serve with a slice of orange in each glass.

Delicious “Mexican” Drink

1 pint pineapple juice (unsweetened), Cinnamon, Crushed mint leaves,
1 pint orange juice, Grated orange peel,
Juice of 2 lemons, Powdered raw sugar

Mix liquids and allow to stand over night in a cool place with mint leaves and orange peel in it. When ready to serve, strain, and pour over crushed ice in tall glasses. Add sugar and cinnamon to taste.

Fresh “Passion” Fruit Punch

1 1/3 cups fresh passion fruit juice, 1 1/3 cups water,
2 cups raw sugar, 1 1/3 cups pineapple juice (unsweetened), 1 2/3 tablespoons lemon juice

Press passion fruit pulp through a coarse sieve to obtain the juice, or squeeze through a coarse cloth. Mix water and sugar. Boil 5 minutes and cool. Add fruit juices, chill, and pour over cracked ice.

Fresh “Guava” Fruit Punch

1 1/2 cups water, 1/4 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup raw sugar, 1/2 cup pineapple juice (unsweetened)
3 cups tea infusion (a Health tea), 1 small piece ginger root or a dash of dry ginger,
6 ripe guavas, 3/4 cup orange juice, Cherries, if desired

Peel ginger root, and chop fine. Boil with 1/2 cup water until strong flavor is obtained. Cool and strain. Wash guavas and press through a sieve to remove seeds. Make a syrup of water and sugar. Cool, add all ingredients, and pour over cracked ice. Garnish with a cherry, if desired.

Fruit Punch for 25

3 cups raw sugar, 1 cup cherry juice,
8 cups of water, 24 cherries,
Juice of 12 lemons, Orange and lemon slices,
4 cups pineapple juice, 3 pints seltzer, 2 cups grapefruit juice

Boil sugar and water for 10 minutes. Cool. Add fruit juices and cherries. Just before serving, add carbonated water, and serve over a large piece of ice in a bowl. This is delicious served over a small scoop of orange ice in each glass.

Unsweetened Punch

1 pint unsweetened grape juice, 1 pint (2 ounces) unsweetened pineapple juice,
Juice of 1 lemon

Mix well, and chill before serving.

Fruit Punch for 50

1 cup water, 1 cup lemon juice,
2 cups raw sugar, 2 cups orange juice,
1 cup tea infusion (Health tea), 2 cups pineapple juice (unsweetened),
1 quart charged water, 1 cup cherries
2 cups fruit syrup, (strawberry, loganberry, or grapefruit, Ice water

Boil sugar and water 5 minutes. Add tea, fruit syrup, and juices. Let stand 30 minutes, and add ice water to make 1 1/2 gallons of liquid. Add cherries and charged water. Serve in punch bowl, with large pieces of ice.

Boysenberry Peach Float

3 cups chilled peach juice, 1 pint Boysenberry beverage (frozen),
2 cups chilled soda water

Combine peach juice and soda water, and stir to blend. Pour into 6 or 8 tall glasses, and add frozen Boysenberry beverage, stirring well.

HOT BEVERAGES

An Unusual Cup of Tea

3/4 cup Health (green) tea, 2 cups raw sugar.
12 cups boiling water, Juice of 3 lemons
1/2 teaspoon cloves, juice of 3 oranges,
1 pint boiling water, juice of 2 grapefruits

Steep tea and 12 cups boiling water 5 minutes and strain. Steep cloves in 1 pint of boiling water. Mix together with sugar, and fruit juices. Reheat when ready to serve. Serve with orange slices. (Serves 16.)

Hot Grapefruit Toddy

1 quart water, 1/4 or 1/2 stick cinnamon,
3/4 cup raw sugar, 1 pint grapefruit juice,
1/2 teaspoon cloves, 2 tablespoons lemon juice,
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind, Thin lemon slices

Put the water, sugar, spices, and lemon rind into a twoquart porcelain saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes. Remove from fire, and immediately stir in the grapefruit and lemon juice. Pour through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove spices and rind. Serve immediately with a thin slice of lemon to each glass. Makes 7 sixounce glasses.

COCKTAILS

Carrot Cocktail

Mix equal parts of carrots and orange juice, and serve thoroughly chilled.

Celery Cocktail

Cut fresh, crisp celery into 3inch pieces and put through juicer. Have some fresh (or canned) grapefruit juice in the cup into which the celery flows. This preserves the color, and gives a delicious flavor. Mix equal parts of celery and grapefruit juice. Serve cold, before or between meals.

Cabbage and Pineapple Cocktail

Cut up fresh young cabbage and put through the juicer. Have a bit of pineapple juice in the cup into which the juice flows to keep the liquid clear. Equal parts of cabbage and pineapple juice.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Cocktail

Tender rhubarb, Honey, Handful of strawberries

Put rhubarb and berries through the juicer. Sweeten with honey. This cocktail can be used as an early morning drink in place of orange or grapefruit juice.

Cucumber Cocktail

1 or 2 unpeeled cucumbers, Grapefruit or lemon juice

Wash cucumbers and put through juicer. Add fruit juice. Two glasses of this mixture, daily, will soon clear up an oily skin.

Morning Flush

Unsweetened prune juice Grapefruit juice
Mix equal amount of prune and grapefruit juice, and serve upon arising.
Ground Almond and Orange Juice

2 tablespoons finely ground almonds, 1 glass orange juice,
ground almonds

Beat almonds into orange juice and serve.

Pecano and Pineapple Juice

2 tablespoons “Pecano” (pulverized pecans) 1 glass unsweetened pineapple juice

Beat Pecano into pineapple juice and serve.

Persimmon Cocktail

2 ripe persimmons, 1 grapefruit
1/4 cup pineapple juice, 1/8 cup crushed pineapple, 1/4 cup cranberry sauce

Cut persimmons and grapefruit in small pieces and save all the juice. Mix together with the other ingredients and serve cold.

Tomato and Avocado Cocktail

4 cups strained tomato juice, Pinch salt
1 teaspoon honey, 4 tablespoons cubed or mashed avocado, Juice of 1 lemon

Mix seasoning with lemon and tomato juice. Pour over avocado and serve.

Pep Cocktail

3 parts tomato juice, 1 part radish juice
2 parts celery juice

Youth Cocktail

2 parts beet juice, 1 part parsley juice, 2 parts celery juice

Iodine Cocktail

Juice of 1 onion, 1 bunch spinach, Juice of 1 garlic

After drinking this cocktail, eat parsley to eliminate the odor from the breath.

Cranberry Juice Cocktail

5 sections grapefruit, 1/4 cup Cranberry juice cocktail
1 teaspoon raw sugar

Place the chilled grapefruit in cocktail glasses. Add sugar, and fill glass with cranberry juice. Chill before serving. Serves one.

Tomato Celery Cocktail

Mix together, and season with lemon juice and salt.
1/2 glass tomato juice, 1/2 glass celery juice
